My name is Joe Nguyen, I'm 18 years old and I'm trying to plan an event with the Jimmy Fund. Basically it's a cruise for cancer, pretty much like a motorcycle run, but with cars and motorcycles. We will mostly be going around central mass, with a few stops, and hopefully ending up at the Gardner Airport. The final stop would be there because they have plenty of land, and a car club I am familiar with holds a "Car show" there every year. Pruning Fruit Trees & Bushes for Greater Health & Production (Barre MA)

Many Hands Sustainability Center, a non-profit educational center, will host a four-hour workshop on pruning fruit trees and bushes on Saturday, March 20th, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The workshop will be led by long-time farmer Jack Kittredge at his organic farm, located at 411 Sheldon Road in Barre. The farm has about a hundred fruit trees and numerous plantings of berries and grapes. The workshop is open to the public; cost is $35 per person.

�You prune to get larger and more fruit; it is possible to double your harvest that way,� said Mr. Kittredge, who runs the center along with his wife Julie Rawson. �At this workshop we will discuss the basic theory and practice of pruning for fruit production, and then go out into the orchard and among the bushes and vines to get hands-on experience. A lot of the principles of pruning are the same for all fruits, but there are some differences. We have apples, peaches, pears, plums, cherries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes and various minor fruit here, and have been producing fruit organically for 25 years.�

The workshop costs $35 per person, and proceeds go to support the Many Hands Sustainability Center�s educational work. The price includes a handout giving details on pruning various fruits. Prior registration is encouraged to assure a place. Attendees are asked to bring pruning shears, but there will be some extras available. I know of a very special young woman � Shyler Robinson � of whom not only have I had the chance to know on a personal level but also as very special and determined person.

Below find her exact words in a message to me. I am asking that any of you who read this please help my special friend Shyler by donating children�s books or any monetary donation to help her raise the money to drive to St. Jude and deliver these books herself.

�I decided to start a children's book drive, and am donating all the books to St. Jude's. I'm also collecting monetary donations for shipping but if I get enough money I'm going to go out to St. Jude's myself to bring all the books because it's always been one of my goals to go there�.

Below is some more information from Shyler�s mom.

�There will be a story in the paper once she gets the boxes together. I think it would be great if you could get the word out. Anything will help. She is hoping to get her book published too and have a portion of the proceeds to go to St. Jude's. Shyler feels that if the sick children have a way to "escape" by getting lost in a book. Let their imaginations take them any where they want to go�.

PREP PROSPECT HOCKEY is committed to attracting, developing and exposing top level youth hockey players to the caliber of the DI New England Prep School Hockey League (NEPSIHL). Centrally located out of the New England Sport Center in Marlboro, MA, Prep Prospect Hockey is NOT affiliated with any one prep school. Instead, Prep Prospect Hockey was created to offer a very sacred and unique opportunity for potential prep prospect hockey players, parents, and DI Prep School coaches to meet and interact both on and off the ice in a school-neutral environment. Prep Prospect Hockey offers what the majority of young players and parents demand - direct exposure and development all in one place.

Players can enroll in the two programs offered by Prep Prospect Hockey at the NESC, Marlboro, MA- the PREP EXPERIENCE CAMP (8/19-8/22) for players '94-'97 born and the INVITE TOURNAMENT (8/27-8/28) for '96-'98 born players. Spring is in the Air! On Saturday afternoon, March 27th, 2010, the Blackstone Valley Gardeners, a regional garden club, is sponsoring an exciting public event at the beautiful theater venue of Alternatives Unlimited, Inc. located at 50 Douglas Rd in Whitinsville, MA. If you are weary of winter and looking forward to spring, this is the event that will delight your senses and lift your spirits!

The highlight of this event, �A Prelude to Spring� will be a presentation by Dave Epstein, a nationally recognized speaker with an extensive background in many aspects of gardening. A lifelong resident of New England, David has been an on-air meteorologist for 22 years; 16 of those have been at WCVB-TV in Boston. In 2006 he started Growing Wisdom.com, a site that offers weekly garden videos to help those with a love of horticulture learn new skills or improve existing ones. There are currently over 300 videos available on the site.

A gardener since the age of 10, Dave has a landscape design business called Bloomscapes, Inc. and recently authored �Gardens of New England�, a photography book on some of the best gardens, both public and private, in the area. Dave will be presenting a slide show and interesting insights into many of these stunning gardens and will be available to sign the book for anyone who wishes to purchase it.

In addition to the slide show, Dave will also discuss three common challenges in New England: small garden spaces, drought problems, and gardens that have little sunlight and specific plants will be suggested for these areas. The Blackstone Valley Gardeners was founded in 1995 by a group of people with a passion for gardening. The Second Annual Motor Officer Bike Blessing and Rodeo will once again be honoring law enforcement officers from Southern New England and beyond on Sunday April 25, 2010. Both on duty and off duty officers are welcome to participate.

The event will feature a bike blessing for all uniformed and civilian clothed Law Enforcement Officers to be performed by members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Officers are welcome to attend riding either civilian or department motorcycles. The event will also include bike games, food, live music, a raffle and more. This event is family friendly, alcohol is strictly prohibited.

The Second Annual Motor Officer Bike Blessing & Rodeo will be held at Rendezvous Leather & Accessories located at 690 Quaker Highway in Uxbridge, Massachusetts on Sunday April 25, 2010 rain or shine. It will open to the public at 10 AM with officers arriving at 11 AM.

All proceeds will go to benefit C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc) local Massachusetts chapter, a nationally based organization that provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to come out in support of these law enforcement officers in recognition of their service and dedication to public safety. This is a family friendly event.
