1956 Triumph TR3 Commission # 9865 0
This car was built from various sources 45-50 years ago and was driven all over the country.
TR3A Engine with 87mm pistons (according to PO) a high-port head, 1-3/4” H6 SU carburetors, a TR3B or 4A Transmission with all four synchro gears and electric overdrive. Set up with a TR2 grill and spot lamps in front.
Rebuilt carburetors, rebuilt brakes and painted calipers, new Dayton wire wheels and new tires, new spot lamps, new radiator and fan, new fuel pump and line, new voltage regulator, new flasher, new brake/clutch fluid reservoir, new wires, NOS rotor cap, NOS hood stick cover, and whatever else I’m forgetting.
Comes with lots of extras, including: New carpet set, (2) sets of side curtains, one original and one brand new, a nice soft top, original TR3 aluminum “egg crate” grill, performance exhaust, velocity stacks, original front exhaust pipe, original radiator, lots of spare parts and lots of literature and books.
The car requires some work to be more road-worthy. Starter needs to be rebuilt or replaced as it does not engage or disengage properly with the flywheel. The clutch will need replacement at some point soon (which I have). The rear suspension is noisier than it should be and some shaking can occur over rough spots. Steering box seal leaks and steering can sometimes feel light on the road. With exception to the above, everything works as it should.
Has some scratches and some small dents and dings. It will make a very nice driver without needing a full restoration.
I would prefer that it go to another Triumph enthusiast who will enjoy it as much as we have. If you don’t know much about Triumphs, please do not call with a ton of questions. Get familiar first. Car is registered and insured but has an Off-the-Road Verification Inspection because I missed the inspection date. It’s a form that allows one to take the car off the road for restoration or storage. Odometer reads 111,699 actual mileage is unknown.
