This is great for real Christmas trees. We now use an artificial tree and don't need this any more. You attach the inner piece of the unit to the bottom of the tree trunk. Then you insert that into the larger base and it fits right into that base. It makes putting the tree up fairly quick and easy. Ask with any questions.
