**1974 Guild D-25M — Arched Back, Spruce Top Dreadnought, Recent Fretwork, Original Case**
Up for sale is a genuine 1974 Guild D-25M, built during Guild's celebrated Westerly, Rhode Island era. This one features a solid spruce top paired with Guild's distinctive arched mahogany back — a construction detail unique to Guild that adds extra projection, sustain, and a slightly scooped, resonant low end compared to flat-back dreadnoughts of the era.
**Condition**
Honest cosmetic wear consistent with its age — finish checking, handling marks, and general patina from 50 years of play — but the guitar is in excellent playing condition. The frets have been recently replaced, so it plays smooth and buzz-free with comfortable, low action all the way up the neck. Structurally solid: no cracks, straight neck, no issues. Well-loved, not abused, and ready for many more years of playing.
**Sound**
The spruce top gives clear, articulate top-end and strong projection, while the arched mahogany back adds a warm, focused low end and a touch of natural compression — punchy, balanced, and full-bodied without being boomy. Versatile enough for strumming, flatpicking, or fingerstyle.
**Included**
Comes with its original hardshell case (shows some wear of its own but protects and functions great).
A great example of Guild's arched-back dreadnought design — resonant, road-worn, and dialed in with fresh frets. Happy to answer questions or send additional photos.
