Here's something a bit different. Introduced in 2008, this was Vox's first high-end guitar offering. They were critically acclaimed, but people weren't ready to spend $2,495 in 2008's recession for a guitar made in Japan. I've read in a few different places that it was made in the revered Fujigen factory, but I can't confirm 100%. Either way its build is of very high quality, able to hang w/any of the USA-made high-enders.
Worth mentioning is that this guitar was designed by Rich Lasner, who’s designed a number of successful models with other companies. Examples include the Ibanez Vai and RG models, Yamaha models including their Pacifica, Weddington and Billy Sheehan signature, Modulus’ Flea bass, and others. The "3-90" pickups, made by Dimarzio, allow each pickup to approximate the tones of a single coil, P90, and a humbucker. each pickup has its own 3-way switch that allows you to go between these sounds, allowing for many combinations when combined w/the other pickup.
Players like Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) and Tommy Shaw (Styx) have been seen on stage with these. Most notably, Prince was using them as his main stage guitars before his passing.
Comes with the factory hardshell case (no extra charge for stickers), and a Guitar Player magazine issue that did an in-depth story and (glowing) review of this guitar. I've included pics of the review should you want to read it to see all the specs.
I'd rate its condition as Excellent-minus, as there's a bit of buckle worming and fine scratches on the back, but nothing gross or through the paint. The top's condition is Excellent however. Very clean for a nearly twenty year-old guitar.
If you're looking for a non-"me too" guitar that doesn't come with any sonic baggage, that sounds and plays great, this might be the one.
As of this posting, people are asking anywhere from $1,600 to $3,300 for this model on Reverb. Asking $1,250, or best REASONABLE offer. Low-ballers will be ignored. If it's listed, it's still available.
