The Morningstar Engineering MC6 MKII is a fully programmable universal MIDI controller housed in a compact and roadworthy stompbox-style chassis with a high-contrast digital display. Each of the six footswitches can be programmed to send up to 16 simultaneous MIDI messages, and the unit can store up to 64 presets. Versatile I/O, including 5-pin MIDI, two expression pedal inputs, and class-compliant USB, allows the MC6 to integrate with any pedalboard or studio setup.
UNIVERSAL MIDI CONTROLLER
As a truly universal MIDI controller, the Morningstar Engineering MC6 MKII works with any device that accepts MIDI messages, regardless of brand or model. The footswitches are capable of transmitting any type of MIDI message, including Program Change for switching instrument and effect presets, versatile Control Change messages, and miscellaneous functions like Note, SysEx, and MIDI Clock. Each switch supports up to 16 MIDI channels, enabling you to control multiple devices with a single press. Plus, the A, B, and C switches make it easy to navigate between 30 banks of programs.
REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS
The rear panel of the Morningstar Engineering MC6 MKII MIDI controller houses two 5-pin DIN ports handling MIDI IN and OUT (with MIDI Thru functionality), as well as two 1/4" omniport TRS jacks that can accept expression pedals, aux switches, and more. A USB port provides class-compliant operation with Mac, PC, and mobile devices, as well as optional bus power. A 9–12 Volt DC input makes the unit compatible with common pedalboard adapters, and you can even phantom-power the MC6 MKII via MIDI pins 6 and 7.
USB POWERED AND USB CLASS COMPLIANT
A true plug-and-play MIDI controller, the MC6 MKII is fully class-compliant, meaning it doesn't require any drivers to communicate with your computer, phone, or tablet. Use it as a USB MIDI interface to send CC data, program changes, SysEx, Note, Clock, and other MIDI messages and control plug-ins, virtual instruments, and software mixers from your pedalboard or your desktop. The USB port can also power the unit, eliminating the need for a separate adapter. Whether you want to control Ableton Live with your feet or program the footswitches with your phone, this class-compliant MIDI controller makes it a breeze.
OPTIONAL EXPRESSION PEDAL CONTROL
The Morningstar Engineering MC6 MKII's dual omniport jacks function as expression inputs and aux switch inputs for continuous, momentary, or toggle control of effect parameters. Program various message types, including Expression and Volume CC messages, Mute, Sustain, and even Program Change messages. Plus, select from multiple pedal response curves to fine-tune the action for smooth parameter changes and volume swells.
VERSATILE MIDI FUNCTIONALITY
Beyond standard commands, the MC6 MKII features four independent MIDI waveform engines to automate CC modulation. Choose from saw, triangle, sine, or square wave shapes and set your own minimum and maximum values. Sync these waveforms using MIDI Clock or run them free-form to create rhythmic tremolo, filter LFOs, and other time-based modulation effects.
MORNINGSTAR EDITOR APP
Morningstar Engineering's handy app makes it easy to program up to 30 banks of of 12 presets each and visualize all of your switch assignments, message stacks, and bank configurations at a glance. Use the MIDI Dictionary to assign custom names to each message, assemble song and set lists with bank-jump functions. Plus, you can even take advantage of dual-page banks to double your preset capacity. Morningstar Editor is available as a desktop web app for Windows and Mac, a mobile web app for Android and iOS, and an iOS App Store release.
