Entry level viola, bow, case, rosin. 17" is about the largest size viola, so best suited for a taller adult or high schooler. I am an older beginner violin player, and was considering also learning viola. Picked up this instrument, had a new soundpost and bridge installed by a luthier. Recent D'Addario Ascente strings. At this point in my playing, I'm not able to deal with two instruments with music in different clefs and different finger spacing, though many more experienced folks play both easily.
There is no date on the label, and "designed in Germany" probably indicates it was built elsewhere. This is an entry level instrument, but very playable, and my violin teacher (who is primarily a violist) judged it suitable for learning. No cracks, holds its tuning very well. There is a blemish in the finish on the top, opposite the chin rest. The Glasser fiberglass bow is missing about half its hair, but is very useable (new, decent carbon fiber bows are available for under $100)
