I want to put together a group of interesting instrumentalists and do some gigs ideally with an accordion player to start and would love to add a cellist, maybe fiddle and some sort of percussion, and vocal harmonies are always welcome. Female vocals especially welcome. I have some originals but mostly covers, and quite a few Grateful Dead songs, right now.
I listen to a wide range of music but really into rootsy rock, blues, jazz, real funk (Funkadelic, Meters, etc), Zappa, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Talking Heads, King Crimson, etc. If you write lyrics and have originals or have other covers in mind, I am open to learning those as well.
I used to play in a band in San Francisco, then moved East about 9 years ago, and have spent most of my musical time just writing and recording instrumental music. I played one gig in April and my friends keep asking when am I going to do it again and am starting to get the itch to play out again and make it a regular thing.
I do have a few originals and would like to add more as we go so that eventually the project becomes less reliant on covers but still like doing covers.
I live in NH, but pretty close to central mass and I'm donw there pretty often (Townsend, Peperell, Lunenburg, Fitchburg, Ayer, Shirley, Groton, etc.)
